Streamlined Asylum Process

This guide (last updated February 2025) explains the Streamlined Asylum Processing policy introduced by the Home Office in February 2023, under which certain asylum seekers from high-acceptance-rate countries complete a questionnaire in place of a substantive interview. It details which nationalities and claim dates are in scope for the adult process, what to do upon receiving (or not receiving) a questionnaire, and the distinct process that applies to children. The guide also clarifies the boundaries between legal advice and legal support for volunteers and non-profit caseworkers, outlines the conditions under which an asylum claim may be withdrawn for non-response, and signposts practical resources including multilingual FAQs and template extension-request letters from Refugee Action. A notable caveat is that the policy scope is described as constantly expanding, so readers should check for updates.
