Safeguarding policy
This policy, produced by RadHR for Movement Ecology Collective, sets out a safeguarding framework grounded in transformative justice, non-violent communication, and person-centred care rather than punitive or criminalising approaches. It covers adult safeguarding as its primary scope (with additional provisions for under-18s), defines the responsibilities of a Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy, and provides step-by-step guidance for accessing support, responding to disclosures, managing confidentiality, documenting concerns, and caring for both people experiencing harm and those causing it. Notably, it includes a thoughtful section on capacity that cautions against historically biased assumptions, particularly regarding marginalised groups. The policy is a template with named-role placeholders and is suited to organisations of one to a few co-directors working exclusively with adults.
