Trans equity policy

This policy sets out The Kite Trust's commitment to trans equity across employment, volunteering, and service delivery, recognising gender identities beyond the Equality Act 2010's protected characteristic of Gender Reassignment. It provides detailed practical guidance on supporting employees transitioning at work — including record updates, leave for healthcare appointments, and reference handling — as well as covering gender-neutral facilities, DBS sensitive applications, and confidentiality obligations around gender recognition. Notably, the policy affirms that transition-related absences must not count towards absence monitoring, performance reviews, or redundancy procedures, and addresses implications for pensions and National Insurance where a Gender Recognition Certificate is or is not held.
