Local and national support
This NCVO guide helps organisations getting started with safeguarding to identify both local and national sources of support. Locally, it signposts to NAVCA members, ACRE members (for rural areas), and local authority safeguarding boards and partnerships, many of which offer free or low-cost training. At a national level, it covers a range of support types — online guidance, helplines, training, consultancy, networking, and membership options — and profiles key organisations including NCVO, the Ann Craft Trust, NSPCC, Children England, UK Youth, and Protect (whistleblowing). It also highlights self-assessment and quality assurance tools such as the NSPCC child protection audit tool, the UK Youth quality assurance framework, the Ann Craft Trust safeguarding adults checklist, and the Digisafe toolkit for digital safeguarding.
