Flat structure mutual support and feedback

This policy describes two interlocking peer-support mechanisms for non-hierarchical teams. First, a "Buddy Circle" in which each team member is assigned a buddy (and is in turn someone else's buddy), meeting regularly — at least monthly, with fortnightly 30-minute sessions recommended — to discuss work goals, professional development, wellbeing, and strategies for reducing pressure. Second, a periodic peer feedback survey completed by all staff about each colleague shortly before in-person strategy retreats, covering work, behaviours, values embodiment, and areas for development, with verbal reflection and team discussion built into the retreat itself. The policy is explicitly designed for flat organisational structures with no line-management relationships, making it most applicable to small, non-hierarchical civil-society teams.
