Unlimited Paid Time Off policy

This policy, shared via RadHR and used by Employ America, replaces fixed leave entitlements with unlimited paid time off (PTO) for all full-time exempt employees, making no distinction between sick, vacation, or other leave except where law requires. To counter the well-documented risk of staff taking less leave under unlimited arrangements, it sets an explicit guideline of two to three weeks' vacation per year, mandates a whole-organisation closure between Christmas and New Year, and places responsibility on managers to model and reinforce a healthy team culture. The policy explicitly permits PTO for mental health days, mourning, civic obligations, and stress relief, and notes that contractors are not entitled to paid leave but that flexibility is encouraged; legal requirements always take precedence over the policy's own terms.
