Carer’s leave

This RadHR policy sets out the legal framework and organisational rules for carer's leave, covering employees' statutory right to reasonable unpaid time off for unexpected emergencies involving dependants (partners, children, parents, or those who rely on the employee). Notably, the policy extends the definition of "dependant" beyond blood relatives to include anyone with whom the employee has a strong emotional tie or carer relationship. Short periods of leave are expected to be paid, while longer absences are subject to managerial discretion and negotiation; employees may also combine emergency leave with annual leave or unpaid absence. The policy also addresses return-to-work processes after prolonged absence and employees' right to request flexible working upon return.
