Staff support & performance improvement procedure

This RadHR policy sets out a step-by-step procedure for supporting staff whose performance falls below expected standards, distinguishing clearly between competence issues (covered here) and conduct issues (handled via a separate disciplinary procedure). It describes the roles of Static Reviewers, a Staff Support Group (SSG), and the Office Manager across two escalating stages: an informal enhanced support programme with short-term objectives and regular check-ins, and a formal SSG-involved process including structured meetings, written warnings, and time-bound improvement plans. The procedure emphasises care-centred, non-punitive approaches and includes provisions for reasonable adjustments for staff with health conditions or disabilities. Originally written for CAAT, it is broadly applicable to small charities and community organisations.
