Pay review process

This policy document outlines a structured, participatory pay review process built on an anonymised proposal passed at a Collective Governance (CG) meeting. It guides organisations through four phases — Framing, Gathering, Consolidating, and Deciding — involving staff input via surveys, budget scenario planning (best, worst, and median cases), and consensus-seeking at CG level. Key questions addressed include setting a baseline FTE wage, adopting a four-day working week, adjusting pay for personal circumstances such as dependants or inherited wealth, setting freelance day rates, and aligning project-specific staffing with wider pay principles. The process is designed for organisations with collective or participatory governance structures and assumes access to a finance person and a small pay review working group.
