RadHRpolicy

Parent and carer staff support

This policy from RadHR consolidates and extends provisions for workers with parenting or caring responsibilities, explicitly acknowledging structural discrimination against this group in the workplace. It sets out enhanced maternity and paternity/parental leave pay (including top-ups above statutory rates), 16 days of paid carer leave at full pay plus a further 16 at half pay, and a phased return to work after extended absence. Notably, it introduces a parent and carer wage subsidy of 12% of baseline pay for a first child and 6% for each additional child (capped at £10,000/year above baseline), as well as nursery deposit payments of up to £1,000 paid directly to the nursery. The policy also covers flexible working arrangements and childcare cost support for out-of-hours work, and applies a broad, inclusive definition of "dependant" that encompasses chosen family and housemates.
